So, it’s an update

It’s been a while since an entry … There have been several things going on … For the most part, I am keeping very busy …

Octane: The first weekend with the band went well I suppose … Me over analyzing everything, and everyone else cruising through … Thursday at The Ridge was a slow night as far as people and was the first night I set up the PA, Lights and band gear … I didn’t get my new boards so we went with the Mackie 24 and the Peavey 16 … The only snag in it was the acoustic set and having inputs for the djimbae … We decided on swapping out the electric guitar channels to use for the acoustic set … There were two major glitches … one being a dirty insert on the spare mic so nothing came through when Bob was attempting to address the audience … It took me longer than it should have to realize this and pull the insert … The other was me boosting an effect to get some sound out of it and not realizing I was sending the effect back through the effect itself so when I got to a certain point, guess what … SCREECH! through the PA for a split second until I swiped the fader down … So, those were the two major screw ups that I was responsible for … We got out of there pretty quick … Friday at Bootleggers went well I think … There were a couple people there who I asked to tell me how the mix was … One went as far as to say that it’s the best they’ve ever sounded at Bootleggers … hmm … There were no problems to speak of that night, and I think I could hear them a lot better than I could The Interns just two weeks prior when I did a favor for The Interns when they couldn’t find sound for that night … Strange the way that worked out … Then Saturday night at Crocodile Rock up in Allentown was the easiest by far … Using the house system, we had plenty of channels and plenty of options to choose from … While the mix was fine according to everyone, the third set was much louder cause the owner expressed that he paid a lot of money for the PA in that room, he thought I should use more of it … “more gas” was the comment … So, the second night in a row with an encore, Brian Bortnick shouted over the PA “C’mon Dave … you’re driving this thing … Give it the gas!” and Sicklike ended my first weekend with Octane … Not too bad a start, and not too many bruises … It will only get better …

Monday: My boards arrived … So going into this weekend I will have all the channels I need for the band and the ability to give them what they want …

I’m not sure what else to put in here, but I have looked into another truck … While everything fits in my 14′ truck, I would like not to have to stack as much stuff as we are right now … I don’t know if a 16′ would make that much of a difference or not … Probably it would … But the truck guy asked me how much weight I was putting in there now … I honestly don’t know … I haven’t been into the truck to re-wire anything because I simply don’t feel like going through the hassle of trying to load and stack the thing by myself and I am not sure who I could ask for help to do this for free … I don’t think any of the crew would want to do this, so I am going to try to do everything I can Thursday (today) …
